[S2E20] A Woman Scorned

The thing about Mellie right now, the thing you don't seem to realize, is that she's very dangerous right now. She's a walking suitcase nuke waiting to go boom because she's not thinking like the First Lady. She's not thinking like the political animal I know she can be. She's thinking like a wife. She's thinking like a woman scorned. She's thinking like someone whose heart has been broken one too many times. She's a credible threat right now, sir.

[S2E20] A Woman Scorned

But could you be like the Grants? Could you sit back and give up everything you've worked your entire life for in order to get back at the husband who hurt you? Or even to earn the woman you've scorned?

Now while Mellie proving the White House hasn't learned to never underestimate a First Lady scorned, the president was proving his worth to Olivia. The clock was tick ticking away as until Mellie went on the air. And Fitz just sat on Olivia's couch and stared at her while Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye sang the other was all they needed to get by. (The music department in this show has truly been stellar.) When the countdown was over, Liv crossed the room to her lover and they had a pretty epic kiss. Mellie is describing the hurt of being being married to a philanderer while said philanderer is engaging in shower sex (and Olivia didn't even where a shower cap, so you know the love is real).

But not as scandalous as the chief of staff being fingered as the mole. It was an obvious red herring trying to make Cy the mole. EVERYONE knows he would never try to kill Liv. Yes, he's ruthless and unscrupulous and he's had a woman murdered before (as Liv found out), but Olivia is not someone he would ever harm that way. This show is delving into "The Killing" territory by pinning the mole on anyone with screen time.

Wow. Mellie is cray cray. Mellie is full of shiggety. Mellie is a woman scorned. That fool overplayed her hand. The mole could be red hair, with her luv/hate gurl crush on Liv. The mole could be Jake with his luv/hate man crush on Ghost. The mole could be Harrison with his luv thang for Liv.

Though Family Guy fans bask in the comfort of the seemingly-forgotten TV convention calling for shows to begin with a theme song rather than a cold or hot open teaser, the rare change-up is always welcome. This was never made more clear than in the 2009 episode "Family Goy" (season 8, episode 2) when the Griffins (sans the ever-scorned and left-out Meg) assumed the roles of the original Justice League in a full-on parody of the All-New Super Friends Hour (1977-1978)'s title sequence. 041b061a72
